Metal & Glass

The first time I went in to shoot the assignment I wasn't happy with my results. I chose to shoot a knife cutting into a nectarine. My photos seemed bland and dull, so I desided to go back in and shoot one of the many bike parts laying around my house. I think the leaves work well with the metal and wood table.

Lighting Diagram: Note that the soft box was positioned up and angled down to reflect the metal and light the table appropriately.

Outtake:

I had a hard time deciding on a select but ended up not choosing this one. The shadow under the front leaf bothered me.

Classmate Portrait

For this assignment we got paired up with a classmate and got to experiment with lighting setups. In this photo Jason Lenhart is being lit by a single specular light source on the right. There is also a reflector to the left to help fill his face.

This photo shows Jason being lit by three lights. There is a softbox positioned in front of him acting as the key light with a fill light high and to the right. Another light behind Jason adds a glowing effect.
